Aviva Tu

Aviva Tu, whose Chinese name is MengChun Tu (凃孟君), is a highly accomplished musician specializing in both the violin and piano and is a native of Taiwan. At the age of five she began piano lessons and quickly followed a year later by taking up the violin. At age ten she went to the Shanghai Conservatory in China where she dedicated four years to studying the violin and two years to the piano. Returning to Taiwan at sixteen she enrolled at National Dong Hwa University to pursue a piano major. However, following success in a violin competition her professor recommended she undertake a double major, leading her to graduate in 2014 with a Bachelor’s Degree in both piano and violin. She was deeply involved in the university’s ensembles, was the student association vice president and served as the concertmaster for the National Dong Hwa University Symphony Orchestra. Continuing her advanced studies she earned a Performance Diploma in Violin from Roosevelt University in Chicago in 2019.

In Chicago her experience included working as a vocal and instrumental accompanist at Roosevelt University, a recital accompanist at the South Side Suzuki Cooperative and as an accompanist for the Chicago Summer Opera.

Her connection to Arkansas began as a violinist for The Opera in the Ozarks. Aviva is now actively engaged in the Northwest Arkansas music scene. She regularly performs at weddings, plays the violin at Grotto on select Saturdays, and is committed to teaching locally. Additionally, she serves as an accompanist at The Ozarks Chorale. Furthermore, she expresses her creativity as a surface pattern designer, selling music-themed merchandise.
